GOALS

Golden Gate Cancer Center (GGCC) is a subsidiary of Golden Gate Urology, the largest independent urology practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. GGCC oﬀers advanced, non-surgical technologies for radiation treatment of prostate and breast cancer in the Bay Area. They wanted an SGRT solution to aid in setup and treatment accuracy, as well as help reduce treatment times.

SAFETY

GGCC wanted technology that would help align their prostate and breast patients correctly, minimizing the risk of damaging healthy tissue around vital organs and help reduce the potential for side eﬀects.

EFFICIENCY

GGCC is the largest free-standing center in the Bay Area, with a high patient volume (at times, up to 50-60 patients per day). Their SGRT solution needed to be implemented quickly without aﬀecting their eﬃciency and patient throughput.

PATIENT SATISFACTION

GGCC wanted to provide their patients tattoo and mark-free treatments techniques, as well as safer and more accurate radiation therapy. They also wanted to shorten the amount of time their prostate patients had to hold a full bladder.

The Postural Video module helped GGCC improve their patient setup and monitoring by quickly identifying and correcting if a patient moved out of position. This real-time video feed gave them guidance from diﬀerent angles for precise setup and monitoring.

TATTOO AND MARK-FREE

GGCC implemented tattoo and mark-free treatments in less than six months. Their staﬀ improved their setup times and workflows allowing them to provide their patients with fast and comfortable treatments.

RESULTS

TREATMENT TIMES 5 TO 6 MINUTES

AlignRT InBore reduced treatment times to 5 to 6 minutes, helping GCCC maintain their 12-minute time slots and giving their therapist more time with their patients.

REDUCED SETUP ERRORS

Postural Video and the live video stream helped the therapist align their patients more accurately, helping them reduce setup errors and decrease treatment time for their prostate patients.

REDUCED RE-IMAGING

Using AlignRT InBore helped reduce re-imaging by 50%, helping reduce treatment times and maintain time slots.

TATTOO & MARK-FREE TREATMENTS

GCCC adopted totally tattoo and mark-free treatment in less than six months for all their patients.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

All staﬀ (from physics, therapist, and MD) were onboard and committed to using AlignRT on all patients during Phase 3 onsite training. Consistency was key for everyone to learn more troubleshooting skills while having trainers on-site.

Everyone listened to suggestions from the agenda call to onsite training on the need to have patients exposed for better, more accurate setups and a shorter learning curve.

Educated patients and referring providers on the benefits of AlignRT through centers website, social media, and educational videos on YouTube.
