Your Guide to Implementation and Adoption

Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) enhances accuracy, safety, and efficiency across the entire radiation therapy workflow – from sim, plan, treat, and dose. By using the patient’s 3D surface for positioning and motion monitoring, SGRT supports a non-invasive, markerless workflow that benefits both clinicians and patients.

Connect with peers by joining the SGRT Community, a Vision RT-sponsored peer-to-peer network of radiation oncology professionals sharing insights, research, and best practices. The community offers learning events and collaboration opportunities throughout the year.

Key Steps to Get Started With SGRT

Define Your Clinical Objectives

Start by identifying the key outcomes you want to achieve — whether it’s improving DIBH workflows, implementing tattoo-free setups, enhancing SRS/SBRT accuracy, or optimizing pediatric treatments. Clear goals help focus your planning and investment.

Build Your Implementation Team

Successful SGRT adoption relies on a collaborative approach involving radiation oncologists, physicists, RTTs, and administrators. Engaging these key stakeholders early helps align clinical, technical, and operational priorities, setting the foundation for a smooth and effective implementation.

Select the Right SGRT Solution

Choosing the right SGRT system is a critical decision that impacts treatment accuracy, workflow efficiency, and ultimately, patient outcomes. If you’re a clinician exploring SGRT for the first time, we’ve created a brochure featuring practical tips from experienced users on how to choose and evaluate the right system for your clinic.

Prepare for Training and Launch

To support your training and launch, you’ll be assigned a clinical application specialist after your AlignRT purchase. All our specialists are former radiation therapists or physicists with hands-on experience using AlignRT. They’ll provide best-in-class training and help tailor protocols to fit your clinic’s needs, so your team can focus on what matters most: patient care.

How Clinics Got Started

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) NHS Trust

Vision RT supported UHDB in successfully transitioning to SGRT and launching tattoo and mark-free treatments from day one.

UHDB set a clear goal: to eliminate tattoos from their workflow while adopting AlignRT for DIBH and other breast treatments. With structured training, pre-launch planning, and support from a dedicated Clinical Application Specialist, they achieved this from go-live. Through practical demonstrations and tailored protocols, staff quickly gained confidence in SGRT’s accuracy and safety. Today, UHDB offers tattoo-free treatments as standard and has expanded SGRT use to other sites, including lung and SABR.

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre adopted AlignRT in early 2022 to enhance treatment accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety – especially for tattooless and non-coplanar procedures. AlignRT improved patient setup and reduced repeat imaging, boosting both staff and patient satisfaction. Building on this success, they introduced MapRT to streamline treatment planning and further improve workflow efficiency, reinforcing their commitment to advanced, patient-centered care.
