Vision RT Partners with Apollo Hospitals India for Proton Therapy Centre
20 May 2018. Apollo Hospitals and Vision RT today jointly announced a partnership that will allow Indian proton therapy patients to benefit from Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) for the first time. Vision RT will install one of its market-leading SGRT systems at the new Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC) in Chennai, in the next few months. APCC will have a 3 Room Proton Therapy solution with comprehensive cancer center
A study from Massachusetts General Hospital in the USA found that AlignRT, Vision RT’s flagship product for SGRT, can help deliver more accurate and faster proton therapy than traditional techniques[1].
Mr John Chandy, Vice President, Proton Therapy & Oncology, Apollo Proton Cancer Center said “Proton therapy requires efficient and accurate treatments for patient wellbeing and favourable long-term outcomes. SGRT was therefore a natural choice for us and given its leadership in the field, Vision RT was the right partner. This marks the start of a long-term collaboration with Vision RT to serve patients in India. We look forward to the commissioning of the Apollo Proton Cancer Center in September 2018, with patients from all over the world benefiting from the advanced combination of protons and SGRT.”
This marks another milestone in India after Vision RT began direct operations with a sales force in the country a few months ago.
Norman Smith, CEO of Vision RT, commented. “There are many Indian patients who can benefit from advanced therapies and techniques for cancer care such as proton therapy and SGRT. We are delighted that such a prestigious group as Apollo have chosen to partner with us in the long term. Their decision reinforces both the market leadership of Vision RT and the importance of SGRT to advancing cancer therapy for patients worldwide.”
