Vision RT Celebrates 2024 King’s Award for Enterprise, Adding to Legacy of Queen’s Awards Honors
Vision RT is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2024 King’s Award for Enterprise. The ceremony took place on September 11th, with Mr Martin Russell, the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Barnet, and Councillor Tony Vourou, the Mayor of Barnet, in attendance.
The King’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s most prestigious recognition for business excellence, and Vision RT has been honored with the award in the category of International Trade.
“Displaying the King’s Award emblem demonstrates to the world your ability to meet the highest standards of excellence, standards which are central to the United Kingdom’s competitiveness and prosperity,” said Martin Russell during the ceremony. “Such an achievement has to be striking. Your record reflected just such a success and I congratulate all of you whose work has gone into making this marvellous result possible.”
“We are honored and humbled to receive this prestigious recognition once again,” says Norman Smith, CEO of Vision RT. “Our mission has always been, and continues to be, making radiation therapy more effective for cancer patients and helping to save lives. We are deeply grateful to His Majesty the King for this esteemed acknowledgement.”
Dr. Norman Smith also highlighted the impact of Vision RT’s technology: “Millions of cancer patients undergo radiation therapy, but beyond initial setup, without SGRT, treatments are delivered largely blind. Vision RT has changed that — we are guiding these treatments in real-time, ensuring they are delivered accurately as planned. Vision RT’s SGRT solution is used in approximately 20% of treatment machines worldwide and c. 40% in the more established markets. Our goal is to make SGRT available to all patients and all clinics around the world”
SGRT, pioneered by Vision RT more than 20 years ago, uses advanced camera systems to track patient surface data throughout the radiotherapy process, providing guidance at every stage—from simulation and planning to treatment and dose visualization. More than 2,700 Vision RT systems are currently in use worldwide.
Vision RT has previously won three Queen’s Awards, the predecessor to the King’s Award, during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign—two in 2016 and one in 2020. The latest King’s Award also recognizes the company’s significant growth in international trade, noting its exceptional overseas sales, particularly in the USA, the world’s largest market for radiation therapy.
